The town of De Rust

Posted on Fri June 19, 2020 in PLACES & ACTIVITIES TO VISIT.

De Rust only a mere two and a half hours (210Km) leisure drive from FYNBOS GUESTHOUSE

The picturesque Klein Karoo village of De Rust lies at the southern portal of the famous Meiringspoort about 35 km from Oudtshoorn. Located at the foot of the Swartberg Mountain range between Oudtshoorn and Beaufort West, De Rust is especially known for the meandering Meiringspoort pass, the gateway to the Klein Karoo.
It has a typical Karoo atmosphere steeped in hospitality and time—time for well-being, time for each other and for some, time to become a human being again.

The artists, writers and burnt-out businessmen, have moved in. Gone are the days when you could pick up a three-bedroomed house here for fifty grand or less…

We pride ourselves on a fantastic climate - beautiful sunny winter days with cool nights. Summers are perfect, hot and sunny.

Swartberg Pass

The town itself is peaceful and tree lined with excellent examples of late 19th century architecture, with great nature activities.
